SAND CEREMONY
SAND CEREMONY
Description:
The Sand Ceremony can be a beautiful and meaningful addition to your wedding. The ceremony usually involves three glass containers. The two containers on the outside are each filled with different colours of sand, each representing one of the partners getting married. The central container, larger than the other two, remains empty until this element in your wedding ceremony. The couple will pour their containers of sand into the central container, usually choosing to create a layered design as they pour the sand, alternating one after the other several times.
If children are involved in the family, an option is to include containers of different coloured sand for each individual.
Wording:
Bride and Groom, you have just sealed your relationship by the giving and receiving of rings. This covenant is a relationship pledge between the two of you, agreeing to commit yourselves to one another throughout your lives.
Your relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand, one, representing you, Bride, and the other representing you, Groom. As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the sand will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, may your lives be forever joined.
