UNITY CANDLE CEREMONY
UNITY CANDLE CEREMONY
Description:
The Unity Candle ceremony is a common element added in many weddings. It involves three separate candles, the middle one being the Unity Candle. It is usually larger and taller than the other two side candles.
Typically, the candles are placed at the front on the Signing Table. The two side candles can be lit before the beginning of the ceremony by representatives of each family (often the mothers when they enter). After the signing of the license, each partner takes one of the side candles and then together light the middle Unity Candle.
Your Officiant can offer an explanation of the significance of the candle-lighting to your guests. All three candles remain lit, representing the individual lives of the couple which continue, and the new relationship they now share.
